Problem
Autonomous-driving demos are usually expensive and simulated. I wanted to build a real, low-cost self-driving prototype on accessible hardware.
Approach
Designed and built an autonomous vehicle using ultrasonic + IR sensor fusion for real-time obstacle detection.
Engineered the full hardware–software integration from scratch — sensing, motor control, and the control loop in Python and C on Arduino.
Impact
Awarded the Chief Minister's Innovation Award for low-cost autonomous systems engineering.
Demonstrated reliable real-time obstacle detection and avoidance on a budget build.
